Emiliano Ruiz
Emiliano Ruiz Parra (Mexico, 1982) has been the coordinator of the Center for Learning, Writing, and Languages at ITAM since 2024. His career has developed as a writer and narrative journalist. His most recent books are Golondrinas, un barrio marginal del tamaño del mundo (2022) and Elena Garro, la pérdida del reino (2023). Ruiz Parra studied Hispanic Literature at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and Political Theory at University College London (UCL); he covered politics, religion, and human rights for the newspaper Reforma (2004-2008) and has collaborated with Gatopardo since 2010. He has received awards and recognitions at the national and international levels. Between 2020 and 2024, he directed UNAM’s Journalism Research Unit. In 2024, he was a resident at the Casa Estudio Cien Años de Soledad. He has participated in various audiovisual projects, such as the feature documentary Golondrinas, recuerdos del futuro (2025) as executive producer and writer, and the documentary miniseries Marcial Maciel, el lobo de Dios (HBO MAX) as researcher and script consultant.
