Sandra Minaburo
She is currently the Director of the Teaching and Learning Center of the Division of Business Administration and Accounting, and full-time professor at the Accounting Department. At ITAM she has served as the Director of the Research Center in Accounting (CEPAC), as the Director of the undergraduate program in Public Accounting and Financial Strategy, and as the Head of the Accounting Department. She holds a bachelor´s degree from ITAM, has a PhD in Accounting from the University of Exeter, a master’s degree in Finance, a master’s degree in Accounting, a master’s degree in Information Technology and Administration from ITAM and a master’s degree in Accounting from Florida International University (FIU). She has the IFRS Certification granted by the ICAEW; the Accountancy Certification granted by the IMCP and is a Certified Academic in Public Accountancy by ANFECA.
In the professional sector, she has worked as an Associate Director in the Professional Practice area, and at the IFRS Desk at Ernst & Young Mexico. She has collaborated with the IMCP as a member of the Accounting Principles Commission (CPC) and with the CNBV as a member of the IFRS Transition Committee. Currently, she actively collaborates with the Financial Information Standards Committee (CONIF) of the IMCP, with the National Committee for Financial Information and with the National Committee for Financial and stock brokerage of the IMEF. Recently, CINIF invited her to be part of its Transition Groups of the Mexican Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) NIF D-5, NIF D-1 and NIF D-2. Likewise, it collaborates actively with the CINIF in its MFRS´ public consultation processes, issuing its comments to the accounting standards projects it issues.
She has taught different courses on Basic Accounting, Business Combinations (M&A), Financial Accounting, International Financial Accounting, Financial Information Analysis, and Management and Cost Control; at the undergraduate, master, and executive development level. She has published several books in Spanish and English on topics of Consolidation of Financial Statements, Business Acquisitions, Accounting Differences between USGAAP-IFRS-NIF, History of Accounting in Mexico (chapter in English of the international series "A Global History of Accounting, Financial Reporting and Public Policy edited by Gary Previts, Peter Walton and Peter Wolnizer); among others. She has published several articles in professional journals such as "Contaduría Pública" published by IMCP, "Ejecutivos en Finanzas" edited by IMEF and "Dirección Estratégica" edited by ITAM. She has participated in different national and international Congresses as a speaker on different topics related to Accounting.
